TAKE A look at the books on offer in the risk management and corporate strategy sections of bookstores all over Asia these days and you could be forgiven for thinking that the main external risks facing companies operating in the region involve predicting economic trends or applying the latest statistical or marketing trends. Such matters are important, of course. But history suggests that those who ignore political risk analysis may be in for some nasty surprises.
The articles on this website are about government policies and the way that they impact on society, particularly business.
Under the country specific menus you will find various articles I have written about political and economic developments around the region. A special column on the right hand side of each country page also points to several generic country risks as I see them. There is also a special section devoted to political risk analysis. It includes articles discussing several aspects of the subject based on the 18 years I worked in various companies as a political risk consultant.
Some of the articles on this website were previously published in the Singapore Straits Times, and are therefore copyright to that newspaper. Others were written specifically for this blog. Regardless, I would ask all readers to respect intellectual property and not to republish these articles without permission.
